Description: The Klein Bottle is a surface on which you can move from outside to inside without crossing an edge. This shows that inside and outside are not universal concepts. In this movie Klein's Bottle is constructed by gluing an rectangle along the edges. Then the bottle is cut up again to yield a Moebius-strip. This Video was produces for a topology seminar at the Leibniz Universitaet Hannover. http://www-ifm.math.uni-hannover.de/~fugru/?topologie_teil1 |

bothmer ::: Favorites You're completely right! Of course any smooth deformation of this Klein Bottle is again a Klein Bottle... 07-10-05 03:40:30 __________________________________________________
VanisherGX ::: Favorites It's supposed to be an EXAMPLE of what a Klein bottle looks like. 07-10-03 20:58:35 __________________________________________________
alogli ::: Favorites yea right, but it looks crappy and goes through a surface. lerarn to model faggot! 07-10-03 13:37:18 __________________________________________________
Shot2Remember ::: Favorites Hang on, if a real Klein bottle should not intersect, how does it work? 07-08-21 12:03:32 __________________________________________________
photografr7 ::: Favorites I understand that this is a 3-dimensional representation of a Klein bottle, but a "real" Klein bottle can only be represented in MORE than 3-dimensions. A real Klein bottle would not have different parts of the bottle intersecting eachother. For a clearer explanation of the 4th dimension, search for "Carl Sagan 4th Dimension Explanation" on YouTube. :) 07-07-09 10:16:55 __________________________________________________
bothmer ::: Favorites You are completely right. This is a problem that occurs, because the real klein bottle can not be accurately represented in 3D space. Either as depicted here, there is a wall inside the small tube, or there is a hole in the big tube. To avoid both problems one would have to draw this in 4D... 07-06-27 10:43:37 __________________________________________________
maestbobo ::: Favorites Repositing: This is a great video showing how a klein bottle really looks and how it's related to the moebius band. One remark though: Look at 0:43. You can see how the little tube is cut off inside by the wall of the big one. I'm pretty sure that that isn't supposed to happen, since you should be able to fill a klein bottle with liquid (although nothing exciting happens with the liquid) 07-06-26 13:00:35 __________________________________________________

maksiiiskam ::: Favorites That is right but an actual klein bottle should both link the "inside" and "outside" parts of the small half of the bottle, as fails to do that animation, AND keep the big half of the bottle intact, that is hole-less because a proper klein's bottle should not intersect. Anyway that's an amasing animation which I will recommend to my friends who did not heard about klein bottle. 07-06-01 00:14:31 __________________________________________________ |
