My understanding is that it removes so many layers of skin to expose brand new skin underneath. It is considered more of a medical procedure. The reason this differs from tiny tears in the skin is that bacteria can get into those tears. Berkana ::: Favorites Does the Dermalogica microfoliant use tiny polyethylene beads? I don't like to use products that send tiny particles of non-biodegrading plastic down the drain. That's just plainly bad for the environment.
