Description: Lets start telling YouTube that their "block" command is insufficient. That they need a "block" command as powerful as MySpace. When we block someone they shouldn't even have access to our channel, let alone the ability to rate our videos or leave comments! So use this URL: http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/request.py?contact_type=interactusers&submit=Continue And let them know that YouTube has an insidious disease working from the bottom up! |

ProductPlacer ::: Favorites 2007-10-27 23:30:40 You cannot comment if you are blocked. I think. __________________________________________________
vitalfinds ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 00:06:01 I disagree. I think that haters have to be dealt with by suspending them. The block feature you're describing will do absolutely nothing toward preventing a clone account from damaging a person's reputation. __________________________________________________
robtran ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 00:13:01 Ok, but if you suspend them they come right back and cause problems. No, the users must have the power as they do at MySpace. __________________________________________________
robtran ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 00:13:49 I have blocked SEVERAL people, only to have them come back a day or two later and drop hater comments on me. __________________________________________________
vitalfinds ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 00:22:26 If haters know that they will be suspended continuously, they'll quit eventually. How would your plan prevent reputations from being harmed by clone accounts (which can be made over and over again)? I'm on your side, but I have a different solution. __________________________________________________
robtran ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 03:19:23 Which is?? __________________________________________________
ProductPlacer ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 08:55:01 That is odd. I have been told otherwise by others who have been blocked. __________________________________________________
vitalfinds ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 09:33:15 I'm trying to figure out how to answer this in a sentence. The easiest plan is just for YT to dedicate a staff member to this problem, and allow them to suspend all the verified accounts that we report to them. It could also be done through a reporting form. __________________________________________________
vitalfinds ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 09:36:05 I also don't know what the point would be for not being able to see a person's video. LiveVideo does it that way, and all you have to do is logout to view the video. That function has also caused a lot of damage on LV imho since it's all to easy to have a blocking tantrum with people who have different opinions. __________________________________________________
robtran ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 14:20:06 There's already a reporting form, and YouTube staffers who deal with it. They actually do a pretty good job. The problem is that, for whatever reason, those who are blocked have no problems harassing people. I've blocked several people from my MySpace page, and I've never heard from them again. __________________________________________________
robtran ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 14:26:29 Any abuse of blocking would be mild compared to the real damage that haters do to those of us who would like to get partnered. __________________________________________________
robtran ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 14:27:44 Brandon blocked me. But I can still go to his channel, rate his videos and comment on them. Oh, wait, that's right: I can't subscribe anymore. Big deal, if I was out to do damage. __________________________________________________
SnyderMolonyProd ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 14:36:56 hell yeah. let's fight the good fight! __________________________________________________
vitalfinds ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 16:45:04 So they can't just make a new ID on MySpace? __________________________________________________
robtran ::: Favorites 2007-10-28 18:02:57 No, they can't. MySpace uses IP addresses as the basis of their blocks. Since Murdoch took them over they've gotten VERY serious about this issue. Probably because of all the genuine celebrity accounts. __________________________________________________ |
