Description:
http://www.ted.com Jeff Han demonstrates — for the first time publicly — his intuitive, "interface-free," touch-driven computer screen, which can be manipulated intuitively with the fingertips, and responds to varying levels of pressure. It bears a striking resemblance to Apple's new iPhone ... Jeff Han is a research scientist for New York University's Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. Laughamongous ::: Favorites Parts of this are interesting; other parts flawed. I liked the manipulation of the topographic map(s), but the problems with touch screens are well known: no tactile feedback, sight-impaired users may find an interface based on this totally unusable, fingerprints on the screen... stuff like that. Personally, I wouldn't like having to touch glass/flat plastic 8 hours/day, in order to interact with the machine. 07-04-14 13:26:04 _____________________________________________________
bitRAKE ::: Favorites I own a Toughbook laptop with a touch screen and my experience is that it works better than first thought. Some application naturally work better with touch while others would need significant change to be as effective as using a keyboard/mouse. 07-05-19 21:10:36 _____________________________________________________

BirminghamHustle ::: Favorites I'd reserve judgement, first. I imagine this technology will have tremendous applications. While I don't see this replacing our current methods of interface, I do believe this new approach will be a wonderful addition. 07-05-27 14:29:08 _____________________________________________________ |
